I've got a Rainbow .010 and aerobic .020 to build, both appear cracking
Kits. The quality of cutting and wood selection is superb.
If I was being really picky I'd say that a lack of side
Elevation on the plans may prove tricky for a first timer
Or someone who hasn't looked at any for 35 years, ahem!
Looking at the rainbow I reckon with cyano it'd go together in
An evening. Poss 2 evenings for the Aerobic.
I'll report back with pics when they're done.

I must warn you about this as it was on mine.
The description states it is 12" and can be built to 14" but the plans call for 14" so yeah don't be shocked.i was confused I was like," I know it is 12" but the plans say 14""

Depending on the exact date of the kit some had a mistake! ( not really a mistake, more an oops we missed it! ) , the plans have now been changed...... it is supposed to be 12 inch, but the plan shows 12 and 14 inch ( just a dotted line saying build to here for the 12 inch one and here for the 14 inch )

It was done back in the 90s as 12 or 14 inch so electric could be used on the older plans as electric was then much heavier ( before we put them into the cad pack )....but the caption was missed on the redraw of the plan last year.

The BuzzBipe back in 1992 was 6.75 inch that could be extended to 8.75 inch but 8.75 was never shown on that one, ive only flown them as 6.75 inch so thats all on the plan, the instructions mention that you can make it bigger and there are enough ribs in the kit, but the bigger one isnt drawn on the plan but is easy enough to do if you want it bigger ( but at nearly 9 inch it looks a bit stupid )

Only a few have no side plan, most kits have side elevations of the fus on the plans ( Flutterbug, Rainbow, Buzzbipe, Dipstick etc ) , but some now have all the text and former positions etc lasered onto the wood instead ( Rainbow Bipe ) most other kits have both text on the fus sides and the side elevation on the plan, the Aerobic doesnt need a fus plan as it doesnt have much of a fus

getting it under 3oz will not be a problem , the yellow one in the picture is well under 3oz (from memory its under 2.5oz),

I cant go and weigh it as i left it in Bulgaria to fly in the garden when im there

It should be back from Bulgaria this week! i am having it posted back to me. I want it to put it on the wall at Alexandra palace model engineering exhibition that starts on friday 20th January

I didnt use any really lightweight gear in it as it used to fly fine at about 2.5 times the weight it is now , its covered in standard polyester film with 2 `blue` tower pro servos and a cheap orange 2.4g receiver with no case on, rx power by a voltage booster and 1c mini lipo

The show is on friday 20th, saturday 21st and sunday 22nd, Its mainly engineering but there is some indoor flying as well

The site for the show is

http://www.meridienneexhibitions.co.uk/our-events-detail.php?id=0000000002

We always take all the glue and dope etc to it as FiveStar / StarLoc adhesives ( stand 61 ) but this year some of the the kits and display models are there as well on the same stand ( depending how many i can fit in )

They call it a trade show but everyone sells at it so its more of a retail model / engineering show

We are there on stand 61 , with mainly glues, tissue and dope but also some display models and kits. We are in a different place to last year. So people could find us ( as its not a good place to be in! ) i was going to take my giant sign written r/c airship to fly on a wire up above the stand but they say its not allowed above 1m higher than the stand , its too big for that it needs to be more like 10-20 foot up

John Goddard wrote:It seems to have come out about 15ins.....? !

I have one like that , it flys ok at that size.the plan should have each wing half marked as the correct length and can be built one bay larger each end for a slower model, the text about this and the dotted new position for tip rib was missed out!

The difference that should have been drawn on the plans is just one rib bay shorter each end for the standard size, but it flys ok the larger size
