My Rare Blue Backplate

My Rare Blue Backplate
I was on the Chatbox last night talking with Jason and Jacob when Jason showed that PeeWee tank shown in his $50 box of engines thread (Here). He posted a picture of the tank in the Cox Engine book to show it wasn’t a production engine. When he posted the picture, something jumped out at me. In the upper right of the page is a postage stamp engine with a blue backplate. I said, “Hey! I have one of those!” I got the engine in a lot of engines that an obvious Cox collector or his/her relative had dropped off at the local hobby shop to resell. I used to be terribly envious of all you guys with the ultra-rare engines that I couldn’t afford to snap up on eBay. Now *I* gots me one!

Hi Batjac,
What book is that showing the engines? Any measurements in there that are worth trying to find a copy the book?
Thanks

The Cox Engine Handbook. The engine hoarders go to book on Cox engines.

Going to need to find a thin wall cylinder and a TD prop driver to retain the value.

Just ordered mine. I've been in need of the book for too long. Too much Cox info I do not know.

Re: My Rare Blue Backplate
I have enjoyed having the book. If you really like Cox engines, it's a great resource. Nice color pics, spiral bound, and general eye candy to have around for guys who like such things. The biggest problem I've had with it is that is has caused me to lust after engines I didn't really know I wanted, seek them out, and pay too much to aquire them.
Nice engine, batjac! I heard they made some prototype Surestart-style Pee Wee backplates. I'd love to get my hands on a couple of those. I have found the stock Pee Wee fuel tank too small to enjoy for RC flying and would enjoy a backplate option combined with an external tank.

Did you know you can make a mount utilizing the orange Sky Copter 020 backplate for use with a external tank? I’ ll search for the linc and post it when found...it probably was Mark who posted it originally
