From what I have heard they take a lot of power from the engine but they are worth keeping in the box because they are pretty rare.

If you are an eBay'er you still have a chance at it. Thats where I got the picture from and was just curious because you had mentioned you needed a muffler for your dragonfly...lol. I see your even advertising now lol!

Did you see my post I made in your "Wanted muffler/ throttle topic"? http://coxengineforum.forumakers.com/t130-wanted-049-dragonfly-throttle-muffler-assembly This muffler and a engine with a dragonfly muffler on it was listed. I'm not sure if the engine with the dragonfly muffler is still available though.

No, I believe I breezed past another post where microflightdude mentioned needing one, but I see the topic has been talked about. I was planning my plane and knew if I wanted to fly it at our field it would require a muffler if the manufacturer supplied/offered one. I have bits and pieces of rings and mufflers of the aluminum basket/steel clip type but I was just curious if this version had any advantages other than being in a nice, bright card back and bubble.

I was thinking of maybe making a small plywood baffle box inside the fuselage/firewall to run an exhaust hose to from a tatone 2 piece muffler to help quiet it. Our field is very close to homes on one side so they are strict on db's.

Could they consider a throttle ring as a muffler because standard cox muffles did next to nothing to the noise of the engine and killed the power.

Really? That's disappointing... Or encouraging. Very Happy Now I don't have to pay a fortune to get one? And just use a car throttle? I think I'll get my black widow out and give it a shot.

i mean they are deffinatly compatible and your club may consider it as the engine can be quitened down.
if you run it could we see a video of it?

Thanks, but I don't have the skill or tools to do something like that. Huh...

As long as the throttle bring it down to a not-so-offensive noise, I should be OK. Heck, one of the guys at my club said he didn't care and go for it. lol! cheers

No real tools are needed to make that muffler just a hacksaw and maybe a file.
If you are thinking of jb weld it is like a glue for metals that you mix. That does not involve any tools just old kitchen utensils.

Ok. I tried to put the throttle on my widow's #7 cylinder, but it wouldn't fit. It fits on my #1 cylinder, so I just used that. I looks the same, has dual bypass ports. Video coming soon.

oh yes on the subject of throttles not fitting i need to know if the throttle i have for the .020 will fit your cylinder.
IF it is thin wall it will not fit.
If it is thick wall it will not fit.
it must be thick with a thin section around the ports.
if it does not fit i would be happy to send a cylinder as well.

Thanks! I haven't actually gotten the motor yet. lol! But when I do I'll find out what it is.
