Music and the passage of time

Music and the passage of time
Though I'm "Eagles" fan generally, "The Last Resort" is particular favorite. It bemoans the rape of the environment in the name of "progress". The song is LONG but the lyrics and instrumenaliztions are among their best.

It sure is, in fact my generation doesn't even classify the majority of today's stuff AS music!

"Eagles" represent a style of music that I particularly enjoy. I suspect that there are others here that share my opinion. Thier genre of music is popular around the world where they have drawn huge crowds most recently in Melbourne, Australia.
That doen't mean that EVERYONE enjoys them for whatever the reason.

You got me wrong, bro. I'm not the crumudgeon you might think.
I have an "Eagles" CD playing as I write in fact.
Do you like "Hotel California"? Great guitar "riffs" by Don Henley!

Yes, Henley has had a rather "sordid" career. What now?
But Henley is not unique in that regard as I'm sure that you know. Shall we talk about the "Stones"?

Na, rather talk about The Who!
Yeah Dave like John says I would have never pegged you as an Eagles fan. Being one of our more "Mature" members I would have figured the 60's genra to be more of your cup of tea.
I saw the eagles play sometime around 96-97 in Toronto. It was an "unplugged" concert and while the Eagles are not one of my favorites, accoustically they sounded pretty good.

Add to that their sensational lyrics. Again, I call your ear to "The Last Resort". Long but every moving to me because it speaks to the rape of the environment in the name of "progess" AND you can actually UNDERSTAND the words.
Imagine that!

I saw the Eagles open for Yes in about 1970something. It was right after Rick Wakeman joined Yes. About the time of Roundabout.

No not really for the wrong reasons Dave.
Some wrapper has sampled Hotel California and has put his 'tune' on utube. Mr H got an injunction so now you can
watch Mr Rapper sans La Musique cos it's been pulled.

Oh yeah, "sex, drugs and rockn'roll!". Saw enough of that driving through SF's Haight-Asbury District in '67 when I attended a summer insitute at UC-Berkley.
Who are you trying to kid?

Funny, our parents felt the same way in the 60's.
