Hey Guys,

I was finally successful (I think) in getting the footage of an .010-powered Hughes Hercules on YouTube. This happened at the S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In down in Little Rock, Arkansas back in 1998.

A great time, a long time ago....

Ha!! That sounded like someone threw a rock at a hornet's nest. That was pretty slick -- it was impressive just seeing eight .010's cranked and running at one time.

Thanks for the posting.

Hey, You're welcome!

I don't remember the guy's name. He had a bunch of very creative models...including a PBY'ish model with a mere FOUR .010's for power, and several electric models including a large, super-slow biplane made of pink foam, and aptly named "Pink Panther".

He definitely had the multi-engine technique nailed down...both times I saw him fly the Goose...he walked right down the row of engines, and had it ready to go with less trouble than I can get from one of my little monsters.

You're welcome, Nitro.

I can't remember the exact time-frame, but I believe this footage was at about the time I bought my new .010, and was building the scaled-down "Blunderbus" I posted in my album. I knew then that I should have "bitten the bullet" and bought a few more, but had other responsibilities that were drawing on my paycheck.

Figure that I'm lucky to have what I have, though....

Yeah, getting them all running at the same time is a feat by itself.

That was really cool.

Yeah i have enough respect for him because i know how hard it is to get 8 tee dees with a similar power output.

Thank you, Kim!

I could only imagine plate spinning and sabre dance music trying to start the last engine before the first engine was out of fuel to the lead-up to them showing him run them. Each tank took quite a bit of fuel!

Yeah, me neither. He treated me like a long lost friend at SMALL. I got him to fly a demo of my .010 Mustang that I thought was a bit risky for me (couldn’t see very well before cataract surgery and it was pretty quick), and didn’t want to endanger anyone. Some of the guys are still around tho,
