Jim Walker Firecracker and OK cubs
Anyone know what fair market value is for a Jim Walker Firecracker .065 or an .049 is worth?
OK Cub? I know they have a few different versions, but his are all .049
I am trying to help a friend dissolve his collection and he has asked me for help. I was able to help with the Cox stuff, I have no idea about these engines.
Thanks,
Ron

Hello Ron, the Jim Walker ready to fly models generally bring good money. Jim Walker was a great innovator and showman. He really produced some fine models. Back in the mid 50's he wasn't exactly giving these away. They sold for about $13 back then. I believe the .065 was designated the Royal Spitfire. Does this have speed control in which you pump a hand held bulb? Can you check Ebay for the last sales of this style plane? Ken

Not sure about the bulb, but I do know what you are talking about. This is just the engine not the plane.

Opposed to asking prices selling prices are, as always, whatever the market will bear. Try Flea-bay and sell what the items will bring.
You may find an eager Jim Walker enthusiast.

Dave,
They are not my engines so I am not at liberty to sell them. Ebay doesn't really represent fair market value. He is looking to sell these engines privately. He ha a lot of them.

Ron,
If you were to post pictures and descriptions
here, I'm sure you would get some pretty fair offers.
My '53 .049B would sure love some company.
Lots of legwork, I know, but much easier to do than e-bay(ugh!).
Bob

Re: Jim Walker Firecracker and OK cubs
Mel Anderson had an .065 called the Royal Spitfire, I have three of them. I believe Jim Walker contracted for some modified ones called "Firecracker .065".
Jim Walker's Firebaby had an aluminum firewall that accommodated many engines. I THINK the Firebaby was available with Firecracker, OK Cub or Wasp engines installed at the factory.
This information is completely from reading over the years, I never had a Firebaby.

Hey SuperDave,
Yes and no, they are not mine to sell however, I will be happy to pass the offer along or even put you in touch with the owner. I have a ton of pictures of other engines as well and can email them to whomever would like to see them.
Probably best to shoot me a PM.

I see the bulb is in the box on the .065. Very impressive as these usually dried up and wrinkled like a prune.
How's the condition of the bulb? Does the engine have a small clapper that goes over the venturi? Ken

Don't rightly know Ken, what you see is what I have seen. If you are interested let me know.
