From the Moldy VHS Archives: Ken Willard's .010 powered "Pool Boy"!
Digging through boxes of VHS tapes for conversion to digital format, I found this amazingly clear (for what it is) video of my Ken Willard designed Pool Boy biplane. A flying boat design, it's never seen water, but has spent it's fair share of time scooting across grass and snow, as noted in the following dynamic ACTION Photos!
Somewhere, I've got footage of one of it's cool quirks: Because of it's very narrow power curve vrs plenty of wing area, you could gradually feed in up elevator, causing it to slow down to the ragged edge of stalling, and do touch and goes while the engine was still screaming away. Still digging for that video....

Cool Kim! Say, do not toss those VHS tapes after the digital conversion. I have had a few expensive dvd-r's corrupt after 2 years of storage. Most of them are still holding up fine but just a good idea to hold onto the original source.

Thanks Jacob! You Bet! These old cassettes go back into their boxes, then back into the heated/airconditoned back room. I'm also copying all of this footage to a laptop and it it's two "T-byte" external drives that are set aside just for videos. Figure if I'm 58 now, and get it to hang in there for another 30 years, it ought to take me on out to the end easy!

That's a neat litte plane Kim! I wonder how it would do with a TD .020?

I'm betting it'd be a Baby Pylon Racer! I originally flew the plane with a Pee Wee .020 and a cut-down gray prop, and it smoked around the field at a good clip. I swapped it out the .020 when I bought the .010. I really enjoy cruising planes around low and slow, and the .010 made that a little more manageable.
The huge (by comparison) metal tank slung under the wing cradle would keep the thing flying for ten minutes or more if I filled it up, so I could do a lot of cruising on a tank full!
It also flew pretty fast with the bottom wing removed, but it just didn't look right to me, and had a weird "swinging pendulum" appearance in turns.
