Hello all I am new to your forum but not to cox...
I grew up with the Cox control line planes and cars...
I have been into RC planes for 20 years or more and graduated to full scale ultralights...
I got a crazy idea last January and decided to go with it...
I want to build a full size Cox Proprod...(early version) the one without the prop shroud and rear wheel fairings...
I am looking for a scale drawing of the Proprod that I can scale up to around 12 FT. in length...
I will be powering it with a military surplus 4A084 industrial flat 4 engine with a pusher prop 60D X 24P.
I will start with a basic space frame of ladder construction from 1" X .049 wall 4130 round tube...
The original had rigid suspension but I plan on building upper and lower A frames for each corner with a cantilever shaft with 4 coil springs from a motorcycle which will be inside the body...
These will be covered with a fiberglass airfoil shape as on the model but separate from the body to be able to henge up and down independently as the suspension moves...
Fuel tank will be built into the bullet portion in front of the engine mount...
I believe that the canopy will be the most difficult part to reproduce to scale unless I can come across the front portion of a military surplus jet canopy...
The size of the scale will be determined by the cockpit size...
Motorcycle wheels covered with an aluminum disc inside and out
That's as far as I got without a scale drawing to work with...
I had an early proprod but gave it to my Brother years ago so I have nothing to scale from...
This is a pretty far fetched idea but I know It can be done with your help...
Thanks in advance for any help with this...

Your best bet would be to buy one on ebay and then reverse engineer. Besides, they would look cool side by side.

I could give you some advice, looking at your 2D drawings, the Prop Rod resembles a Belly Tanker (aka Belly Tank Streamliner or Belly Tank Lakester).

I would suggest to do some research on Belly Tankers and go from there to make a full-size Prop Rod.

I sorta' drew this up using paintbrush on my Macbook and looking at several Proprod photos...YES! a cad program would be great for scaling...

Great info Wingingit! Would be a great starting point...I like the Mark II Drop Tank Shells
24" in diameter and 132.5" long for $600.00 That would be the approximate size I need...

You need a pusher with adjustable pitch, so you can fine tune that last bit of speed.
