That's a tough one. Since the recommended oil is 20%, half of which must be castor, I'm not sure I have a good answer for that, since yours already has 20% oil, none of which is castor. If you added enough to make it half castor, you'd end up with about 40% total oil content.

This would have been the one to get, and then add 1.6 ounces of castor to bring it up to 20% oil.

I think we talked about that in this thread:

Hello Allan,

You can transform your fuel into a mixture with 20% oïl, half synthetic, half castor, only you'll have to add some nitro as you will end up with 15% of nitro.

I've calculated it in decimal numbers (liters and %) as I am not strong in gallons and ounces:

for 1 liter of fuel, you have the following:

300 ml (30%) nitro
210 ml (21%) synthetic oïl
490 ml (49%) methanol

When adding 790 ml of methanol and 210 ml of castor oïl ( = 1 liter together), you have doubled your quantity: 2 liters or 2000 ml of which:

300 ml nitro (15%)
420 ml oïl (21%) made of 210 ml synthetic and 210 ml of castor
1280 ml of metanol (64%)

I've just looked it up. 1 US gallon is 3,785 liters. 1 ounce is 3,785/128 = 0,0295 liters = 29,5 ml

Now, you have 6 ounces of castor being 177 ml. By adding this quantity and the 790 ml of methanol to 1 liter of your fuel, you'll end up with a total of 387 ml of oïl for a total of 1967 ml of fuel (1,967 liters). That is a total of 19,6% oïl made up with 54,3% synthetic oïl and 45,7% castor oïl. Your nitro content is 15,2%.

You don't have enough castor to transform the total of your gallon of fuel.

Hope this is of any help.

Lieven

Thanks for going to the trouble to do that, Lieven.

Alan, if you need methanol, you can buy Heet in the YELLOW bottle at the auto parts store. If you want to fly today, go ahead and use drugstore castor if that's all you have, but in the future, I would suggest getting some good degummed racing castor from Bernie or Klotz, etc.
