Cox Engine of The Month
Cox Jerobee #501
Cox Jerobee #501
Here are some pictures of a Cox Jerobee #501 engine that was in pieces in a lot I bought a few months back. This engine dates to '71. Needed a new recoil cable and was missing the starter dogs inside. The clutch looks the same as the Cox GTP engine. I wish it was the later Jerobee #508A with the cooling holes drilled in the tank.
Not sure how many of these were made.

Re: Cox Jerobee #501
I don't know how many Jerobees were produced but there was a dedicated production line for them

I have not seen one of the versions with the modified tank. I haven' found any pictures on the Interweb but there are a few articles describing them.

I have a new cable installed and made the dogs on the lathe already. They are small disks that catch the flywheel.

You need to grab a whole Jerobee car to put that in. Very cool bit of RC history.
They also have a Jerobee TD .049......

Hi Jason, That looks great!! Are there différences in the number of pinion teeth? The perforated-tank-engine on my Jerobee has a pinion with 10 teeth but there are also pinions with 8, 9 and 11 teeth.

Looking at the pictures, I could count the 11 teeth on the TD pinion. Jason, can you count the 2 others?
Thanks.
Thanks.

9 teeth on the perforated tank and 10 on the non perforated tank. As stated the TD had 11 teeth.
