If you are referring to Dan Sitters book as seen here:

http://www.modelenginecollecting.com/Cox%20Web%20Material/Cox-Book.html

I think it would be very valuable to an aspiring collector. Or to someone who just wishes to have knowledge.

Can't tell you much as I don't own one. I am not a full on collector so I can learn what I need to know on here and by doing.

It's supposedly a really informative book written by some pretty hard core collectors. How serious of a collector do you want to be?

I have that book. Lots of good information on engines, when they were made and what models they were used on. It doesn't cover the planes or the cars. It doesn't cover the packaging of the engines over the years either.

Covers the prototypes and custom engines that were built using Cox parts.

Craig:

There is an awfully lot of good information for FREE right here on our site: Cox Engine Collection Site (on the forum left header for one)

Absorb that then decide if you wish more information.

Also check this site: Cox model engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Well,  Huh...  I don't know about my site... It has information about my personal engines in my collection. Doesn't have every engine Cox made on it. I still need to add a bunch of engines to it.

Jacob:

I'd opine that Craig is in the very early stages of gaining knowledge of matters Cox. Your site would still be useful to one in such a position.

Also, don't forget Mark's .049 Collectors group at http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/049Collectors/info.  He has worked hard to compile a BUNCH of info on RTF's and Engines of all brands.

I've bought both the Cox Model Engine Handbook, and the companion volume, American Model Engine Encyclopedia, which includes a bunch of Cox derivatives.

Along with the fantastic resources here, the books give some background on the the players involved in the development of Cox Engines, and their historical relationships with the Atwoods, Wen Macs, and others.

I'm not really a collector, but I DO love reading about this stuff !

Thanks for posing the question Craig.
I've been thinking of getting the book(bible)
for a while, and was glad to hear everyone's
take on it. Still undecided though.  Huh...
