Take off dolly
One of the guys at the field today had a fully flapped stunter that used a takeoff dolly. Pretty cool, your scale model of a plane with retracts doesn't have to fly gear down. He was also using a stooge. Nice setup.

Re: Take off dolly
I wasn't going to say anything, but that is a different plane for sure. Different strokes.....
Edit: thanks for posting the dolly Jim, How does it hold the plane until liftoff?

Re: Take off dolly
Ron,
It's captured only at the tail:
The wing sits on rails that are padded with metallic Mylar bubble wrap. The overall length and the height of tail hook are adjustable.
The model is designed after a JU 88 but with one engine:
The fuse is two 1/2 inch cedar planks planed to 3/8 and routed out before the are joined. It feels as light as balsa but is very strong and finishes much easier to finish. Wing is covered with "docu-lam", a laminating film. Works as well as monokote but you can buy 500 feet for $30.
This is the same guy that built this completely from scratch, engine and all, in his garage:

Now here's a guy that thinks outside of the box. Pretty original looking scratch built airplane. I like it.

Re: Take off dolly
Essentially this is how I take off my speed planes. My dolly is pretty basic, but it works. The main problem is if it bounces out of the dolly prematurely. This results in broken prop and shaft run. Real fun though and for those high powered models that want to turn in on take off, the dolly eliminates this factor and makes it really safe. Ken
