Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
Looking for a vintage (1950's?) Fox 35 CL stunt engine, new or used in great condition for one of our US customers.
Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
That's a different one. I don't have any I can offer. I have one early 50's but it's a sweet performer and in use.
They are the most prolific US CL stunt engine out there and are on Ebay daily, not to mention every swap meet.

Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
There are a couple of beat up one on eBay currently as well as one that looks ok. I'll bid on that one then.
Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
You might want him to define vintage. They have been making them since 1948.
If looking on Ebay, try and just do a search for "Fox Engine" as more results usually turn up.

The older the better I suppose. He did say they were made since 1948. The guy is mid-80's, the nicest person in the world, an outstanding customer and has no computer or internet
Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
I passed over several at a swap meet last weekend. Wish you had posted this sooner! Would have been glad to help an old guy out.

No problem, sorry I can't help more. Keep in mind the well used ones run the best. It takes a good long while to wear one out.

Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
Bernie, why the request for a 1950's version? Is this for nostalgia reasons? Sometimes older seems to be associated with better. While the quality of these greatly differed throughout the years, some things about the 1950's Fox's weren't always beneficial. Casting gussets have been added to stiffen the case on later models not to mention the wrist pin using circlips vs brass end pads. Many fields require mufflers and the older engines tend to not be so happy when using one. The newer Fox's have muffler provisions. Pricing lately for most Fox items have seen increases due to the halt of manufacturing at Fox. You don't receive a honest John answer in regards to when or if we will see any new engines becoming available from Fox. This has led many to believe this is the demise of Fox engines. This has spiked the costs of these on Ebay and swap meets. The two I attended in the past few months reflects this. The tables have turned and the seller is now in control. Currently some very good versions are being sold through the members on Stunthangar. Ken

Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
I doubt this buyer will ever run it.
He collects Cox items and apparently also Fox engines. He wants something CL 35 stunt from early years, as that is missing in his collection.
Bidding on this one here:

Re: Wanted: Fox 35 CL Stunt engine
Bernie, I would suggest asking sellers if the engine turns over freely. The Fox engines of that era have a pronounced tendency to "freeze up" because the lubricant used at the factory congeals. Even though the buyer may never run it, he probably wants it to be in running condition.
Some terrific buys can be found on eBay if you know what you're looking for. I recently purchased a Fox 35 Stunt for less than $10 delivered - the seller had taken the head off, probably because of the problem mentioned above. It's clear the engine has never even been mounted after leaving the factory!

Sorry, I was searching for a Cox .020 and found a Fox .29 and the next engine said .35 and I jumped at it thinking it was a Fox, but it was a McCoy. Sorry for the diversion.
