Happy Lucky New Airplane Day!!! Woo Hoo!! Pics Added
Hello all,
Aside from the 1/2A stuff, I enjoy flying all sizes and types of R/C planes including Combat.
And back around the Summer of 2004, two of the local R/C clubs here in Maryland started a new event called WW1 "Dawn Patrol" Combat using .25 sized profile WW1 Biplanes.
The choices of planes you could build included a Sopwith, Albatross, Fokker DVII, SE-5 A and a few others and were pretty simple to build. But to keep everything fair, they had to be powered by a Bushed .25 with a stock muffler, have traditional built up flat bottom wings with the same size ribs in both wings, and they had to have a profile fuse.
I had a set of plans but they were misplaced. So a couple of days ago, I asked one the local club members if they still had any plans and one of the members told me that he had a Sopwith that he was no longer using and that I was welcomed to it. I asked him how much he wanted and he said it was free. Thinking it was just the airframe when I went to pick it up, I was greatly surprised that it was complete, never damaged or crashed, had very low flight time with a like new Thunder Tiger GP.25 and a complete radio less TX. The plane is absolutely beautiful! It's covered in Sig Coverall fabric and finished in Sig Dope. He also gave me some extra covering material, a spare set of decals and a few cans of Dope in case repairs or touch ups are needed.
The weather here is crappy today but as soon as the weather clears, I'll get plane outside and snap a few pics and post them.
Meanwhile here are a few pics of some other planes do you can see what they look like.

Congratulations on that score Shawn! Those models look like a LOT of fun.. especially for dogfighting! It's great that you also got the matching spares of fabric and dope too. Hopefully you won't need them.. but it's nice to have them if you do. Looking forward to the pics!
