Was the heatsink designed to work in tandem with the "fan" on the output shaft of the worm-drives Cox put in models like their "Sand Blaster"? Will the heatsink provide adequate cooling if used alone? I have thought about using one in a marine application.. as well as on a cowled-in/inverted cylinder aircraft application.. as sort of a radiator. I could make a functional air-scoop for it.

This photo shows the popular-style car worm-drive on the left.. The drive on the right doesn't have a "fan". Maybe a higher model speed provided for ample cooling.. (once it got going...) than the lower-geared worm-drive models?

Below/left shows my Dumas water-jacket designed for the Cox .049 engine in a marine application.. (I think it needs a longer screw...  What? ) The 3 Cox heatsinks on the right; I purchased separately as parts.

Hey Roddie, here's another one.
I think this one is from a GTP Nissan
RC car. There was no fan, as the buisness end
of the engine was taken up with flywheel/clutch.
I'm thinking this heatsink was hanging out in clean
air when the car was rolling.
This set-up is where the no-fin glow head came
from(I think).

You're probably right Bob.. there'd be better heat transfer to the sink, than with a finned head.

The Dumas water-jacket is almost twice the weight of the Cox cat.#1970 heatsink, but I guess; in a boat.. it doesn't matter as much.
