Re: Wasp Head Gasket Thickness
In my AP wasp .061 the gasket is aluminum. I pulled it out and put copper Cox gaskets in.

Re: Wasp Head Gasket Thickness
Jokes on me, I really thought you were talking about a completely different engine! Glad it worked out easy.
That tank gasket looks easy at least. No funky shapes at all on it.

Phil's advice is absolutely imperative. The OEM Wasp gasket is hard, rough and ill fitting --- probably punched (or cut with scissors) out of a recycled Coors can. Besides an thorough cleaning, gasket replacement should be first on your list of mods.
EDIT: Whoops, not an AP Wasp, but Phil's recommendation still holds if you do have an AP.
Re: Wasp Head Gasket Thickness
The original Atwood/Holland Wasp head gasket was a fiber type, like an automotive carb. gray gasket material. I never thought about using a copper head gasket from a Cox, but if it works, heck yea!
Re: Wasp Head Gasket Thickness
Sorry , Atwood wasp I was cleaning a few engines and did nt take the time to look it up It,s a shame someone took a pear of pliers to the jug, but that just gives me a reason to want to run it . Cleaned up good !! Guess this will be my first engine to try and replace the NVA with possibly a cox ? It sucks that most these old engines needles have been either broken off or lost over the years the baby spitfire I cleaned and got the plugs for well my S.AS... didn't even realize the damn needle was missing on it / I was looking for it after cleaning and finally went to the pics. I took before and there was NO NV !!!! O Well Eric

Re: Wasp Head Gasket Thickness
A Testors/ Wen-Mac needle will work, you can also stick the head in a drill and turn it with a file, using a glow plug stem in drill chuck.
