Aero 35 Inline
Anyone ever seen one of these? Aero 35
I haven't been able to figure out how the piston might link to the crank. It looks weird hey?

Not in person. Interesting engineering on them though, that is fer sure! Shame they were considered an under performer.

Looks like a lot of unnecessary complexity. Why would you bother for only a 20% height advantage?

Scale look? There was a geared inline Russian engine linked in one of those articles built for the express purpose of the look.
You are right that is a lot of complexity for a reduced profile. Now just go electric with a good sound system for the scale look and sound!

It's unusual indeed. if they weren't so rare, I wouldn't mind tinkering with one. (Bandit)

I would think there may be additional wear induced having a spinning piston sleeve. Also this is just plain dirty having the piston work to spin the mass of the crank and sleeve is scrubbing off power regardless if the gear ratio adds torque you then give up rpm. Its a neat engine to have fun with but not perfection in power into power out. If your goal is low profile mission successful.
