novelty builds?
Anybody build a novelty type control line plane?
I went to a local show with my dad as a kid and with all the really cool planes that were flown the one that made the biggest impression on me was a Moody's flying dog house. It was an r/c plane but would love to make a control line version.

Re: novelty builds?
Within reason, novelty builds are a blast!
Of course the definition of "reason" is rather subjective.

Re: novelty builds?
I flew a pretty novel plane Sunday. It was the DDS, Dumpster Diver Special. I've got an entertaining movie crunching about that expedition now.

Re: novelty builds?
I have never built one, but I've seen pics and videos of flying iron, lawnmower, stop sign and other things, mostly R/C.
Here's one for C/L, looks like fun:

I've seen that and it looks like a lot of fun. I wonder if an .049 would be way too much. I have a plethora of mild ones...

Re: novelty builds?
How about your favorite automobile? A profile fuse outline of it. Source an image.. scale, mirror and print decals for the left/right sides. Maybe something out of the 50's that already has tail-fins!!
This baby looks like it was made to fly!!!!!
You could easily outline and laser-cut it Roger!

there you go! Elvira... phil... it may run great with an .049. the plans say it's a slow flyer and should be flown on a calm day with the .020 engine. i may have to throw one of these together after i get my next trainer built up and flying.

Re: novelty builds?
Speaking of novelty builds, this is a novelty in the sense it was one of Walt Musciano stand way off scale creations, the 1964 Scientific 1/2-A F6F Hellcat. Through the Hip Pocket Aeronautics Builders Forum, I received a scan of the plans from Dave Cowell of Aerowerkes, Farmington NM. I was glad to receive this as this was my first CL kit built in 1965 as an 11 YO.
Dave had mentioned making CAD drawings of it. I just E-mailed him inquiring if he offered a short kit or kit of it.

Re: novelty builds?
found this on amazon. can't tell if this a powered model or not... says "flying model" i can't tell how much info is on the pic you posted but, if there is some dimensional info there i could lay it out and possibly cut it. cool looking kit!
