I dug out some old modelling magazines I salvaged from my brother's estate years ago, mostly from the late 70s/early 80s, and I came across this. Don't know why I never saw it before. Is anyone familiar with it? Lots of really useful building tips.

Harry was a standard at all the swap meets in the midwest, twenty years ago, nice guy. He also made a tube bender, brass and aluminum hubs.

Rod, I'm never to old to learn new tricks or tips on building. Is it a thick book, or something you could scan and save as a PDF file?  Share it in the "instructions " area in the INFO link.
Is there a IBSN number on the inside cover.? If so I could possibly track one down throughout the library system

Oh, never mind looks like I can still order it on line.....don't ya  just love the internet?

Mark - looks like he still does, Tools, tube benders, taps and die sets lots of really cool stuff:

They show the tube bender that Paul G. Used to make the tank pick up tube for 049 tanks.

Rod,

That book is still available. Both of the hobby shops on my side of town have them still on the shelf. It can also be ordered online. The Higley book that I've been looking for for a while is one called "Around the pole". I remember it from way back, but can't find a copy or a reference. If it happens to show up in your stash, lemme know.

Woo Hoo! I've had the name wrong all this time! Thanks for the link. Now I'll have to find a few more things to order from Brodak to make it worth the shipping to do an order.

I have these four.. and as far as I know, there aren't any others. The "Harry's Handbook for Miniature Engines" has a section dedicated to the function and general maintenance of Small Cox Logo Cox engines. The books range from 70-90 pages and I've found them to be very useful.

I have Harry Higley's "All About Engines". It is 124 pages and is copyrighted 1992. Excellent info!

Forgot to mention. One of Harry Higley's excellent suggestions is to run ALL 1/4" x 32 plugs through a die before using them. I only found one out of round...but that could have ruined a head.

I bought a HH tap and a HH die (many years ago). You know...ounce of prevention. :-)
