Hey, hey, hey!
Looking good Ivan! Snow you say? Sounds like a softer landing surface! Of course launching would be a tad tricky...... Good job.

Thanks Indra, but no, we aint lucky to have snow! We live right out in the wilds, and our roads don't get gritted, we have to wait for our friendly neighbourhood farmers to clear the local roads so that we can get up to the main road which IS gritted (Sometimes!)
Last year we couldn't even get down our drive till our neighbour turned up with his tractor and snowplow.
No we REALLY don't want any more snow!

Sun? what's "Sun"? Not something we normally see here!

Beautiful, and it has a real firewall and motor mount. Unlike mine which came with a POS nylon mount. It's now modified though. It's a wonderful flyer. You'll want to get a stunt tank on it so you can do loops and aerobatics.

Yes, the modern kit comes with a plastic mount, mine was scratch-built from the original Carl Goldberg plan, so has the original type mount

Thats a good idea.
Imagine a CL float plane though stand in the water and fly.

That would have to be a big bore unit. 3 circles till you got up enough speed with those tiller rudders holding you to the outside.

My older friend used to do that. He said it was loads of fun.

I used to fly a scale Supermarine S6B (Racing seaplane) with a 3.5 cc diesel which would take off and land beautifully on grass, but the floats on that plane are pretty massive, never actually flew it off water, though I would have loved to, but you'd need a pool about 200' across and six inches deep! that would work on snow too!

Was not the plane that led to the spitfire?
I can fly off sea if I need to when in Ireland.

Yes, designed by R. J. Mitchell, who went on to design the Spitfire. The S6B won the Schneider Trophy outright for Britain in 1931.
I would wish you luck flying off the sea here at the moment! They have just recorded the highest wave ever seen in Irish waters, off the coast of Donegal up here, 70' + !

Re: Li'l Jumpin Bean
In the first week of my Stuntman23's life, my son splashed it in the ocean. We were flying on 50' lines at low tide over the smooth packed sand, probably a horrible idea for the engines. Our airport was disappearing as the tide came in and 1/4 lap was wet.microflitedude wrote:Thats a good idea.

Re: Li'l Jumpin Bean
Hey Ivanhoe, here's a quick clip of my Bean. You can hear the Black Widow straining to pull it through some of the maneuvers. I'm using a 6x3 prop which makes aerobatics much more durable but requires more power. I'm going to find a way to get a Medallion on this plane, which should really perk it up.

I hope the snow melts early for you.

Good video, Rusty, see what you mean about the engine straining, but doesn't the streamer you're towing add considerably to the drag and increase the strain?

Re: Li'l Jumpin Bean
I can't tell any difference with or without the streamer, it doesn't slow it like I expected. I cut a narrow 2' long strip of red gift-bag stuffing tissue, not a 6' long crepe paper one like the combat guys. It doesn't soak up oil like crepe paper does either. It makes it easier to see on the videos and I mostly use it because it looks cool.

Re: Li'l Jumpin Bean
But they also make the plane easier to see orientation wise I used them on my micro stik for that reason.
