Kavan Tank Extender and Funky Muffler

Kavan Tank Extender and Funky Muffler
I bought these from a local fella who is getting out of the hobby due to age etc. I'm sure I've seen the tank extender by Kavan before but I've never seen this silicone tube thingie that is an exhaust diverter(?) and a muffler (if you plug one end with a dowel according to the microscopic instructions). The instructions tell you to 'pinch and pull' the tube ends in order to stretch thingie over engine. The instruction also tell you to remove thingie from time to time and wash with soapy water if it gets loose on engine. Anyone else ever seen one of these?

Silicone mufflers are easy and work. I made one by caulking a paper form...it looks funny though. It works well enough. I keep it in my flight kit since it is easy to swap on.
That setup looks a lot easier and cleaner. I wonder how well it really works.

I've never seen a muffler like that. It would be relatively easy to make one, might give it a try.
And maybe tie-wrap a kazoo on each end
