Tropical storm scrubs the next Wildcat Rangers mission
Empty post alert!: Read at risk of wasting a minute of your life.
Well now we have Tropical Storm Julia stalled off the coast, so unstable air can be expected Thursday when we had planned to fly again. I'm bouncing off the walls here! I wanna FLY!. So it's probably Saturday or Sunday now.
As I mentioned in yesterday's Nobler thread, the only change I've made to Tazz is adding the aluminum spinner which, with the adapter nut, adds about another ounce to the plane. The C/G barely moved and is still significantly aft of the plans, but I know now that the plans don't really tell the story. It's about 1/4" forward of the edge of the spar with my fingertip balancing method. The spinner gives me the ability to crank with the electric starter if necessary during the contest, which is its only reason for being. I knurled the backplate and washer, so every contacting surface is guarded against slippage.
So I guess I'll hang around here dreaming of flying and get something done on the Re-Nobler.
Sorry for the empty post, I'm just trying to find something to do. Like being all dressed up and no place to go Lol.

I feel your frustration. I was watching the national news and the radar images of the storm, thinking, "man that's gotta be raining on Rusty's area" Bummer Dude. Hope the weather improves soon!

Well, it turned out to be a non-rain event, but the oak limbs are moving, so we'd have had bad air.
There's a geezer fly-in at Triple Tree Saturday, so we're going to fly there. Actually, it's an old timer fly-in, but I have gray hair, so I can get in.
8-10 NE, so we'll be looking into the sun after lunch, but that's what those big funny looking grandpa sunglasses are for. I layer up with my transition lenses, my driving clip-on shades, and the grandpa glasses on top of all that. No, I don't have a picture of me wearing them. But damned if I can't look into the sun and still follow the plane.
See y'all with a real report after Saturday.
