Texaco petroleum promo-items
Thought I'd bring this out of hibernation for photo-documenting. Texaco Oil had some very cool promotional items at their stations years ago. This die-cast Travelair Mystery-Ship coin-bank was one in a series made for Texaco by Ertl. This one I got from a Texaco Fuel station around 1996.
I had this "Buddy L" tanker truck as a kid. The front axle had sprung-suspension. My younger brother has a similar one. There were several different pressed-steel variants and miniatures made over the years.

Neat roddie. I want that airplane. Looks like a quality product.
All I ever found were those Hess trucks, they were everywhere. I still have a couple of NIB's around placed where I can't find them. Didn't they offer one with an airplane in tow?
Bob

Re: Texaco petroleum promo-items
I remember when gas stations were a place for basic service, most had a mechanic for more serious problems also. You could buy real gas not the bullcrap they sell today. What a novel idea.
Shell sold these Wen Mac models, they wind up with a key and pop a chute at the end of the run. Looking for one for years, the are pretty rare.
For me at that young age speed was of the essence, I followed Bonneville Salt racing through the 60s.

Re: Texaco petroleum promo-items
Those are SO cool
I was outside the USA many of those years...( today I watch Gun-smoke* re-runs as they are ALL new to me)
Some time in the 60s my Dad was away and brought home a Green Dinosaur from a Sinclair station promotion
Until CEF, I was not even aware of these very cool promotional items....
* Gun-Smoke, a example of the many many TV series I never ever saw in real time weekly...Bonanza, Big Valley, Carol Burnett show....yadda yadda
