My newly received Space Bug Jr., straight from Mr. Ron, runs up on it's stand. Gonna get some gaskets for the pup, but having fun right now!

Thanks Dude!

Well, I'll be darned. I should have charged double...

Glad it works Kim, was a little unsure about that beat up old head. That and the 60yr old reed pack!

Edit: For those that don't know, that's a genuine 3 piece clickety clack piston in that old bug. It's an entirely original engine, including gaskets. I am actually quite surprised it runs. Goes to show the quality that was put into early Cox manufacturing. Thanks Leroy!

Don't be surprised Ron, occasionally I get mine out and run it.  I know it's all original because (maybe a new glow head) it's been in my possession since I bought it new in 1953 long before any of you whipper snappers were born.  Wanna feel young?  Smile  It has powered a few Scientific models in it's life time and bears the scars.  I didn't have the Cox glow plug connector instead using alligator clips on the case.

Ron's Bug Runs! Narcil10

I know it's been on the "Little Bipe" and my original "Cyclone" and maybe even on the Zipper.  And, Yup, it went to the right place.

Bwaaahhaaa! I'd have paid double! But take heart! I figure to make you executor of my model airplane estate, so all this stuff could eventually be flowing back to you !!!

Nothing more fun than sorting through an old dead guy's stuff !!!

But for now...Yes, Thank You Leroy, and this forum and the .049 Collectors Group !!!

Shoot Kim, I wouldn't have accepted more than $20 for that old thing. I am just happy you could use it.

As executor I will make sure the stuff gets to the right places and used!

Any chance of us seeing it with a relative pulling the lazy bee?

Always fun to resurrect an old engine, best if you can get it going with the least amount of parts and labor. Thumbs Up

When I saw this post on the sidebar.. I figured that Ron had got a VW Beetle going... Laughing That's what I get for assuming.. Rolling Eyes

Very cool engine Kim! Great to see a photo of it running! What were you feeding it with for fuel?

I ran some 15% Sig that was in easy reach. Probably go a little hotter on the next run. It was leaking at the engine/tank seam, but the back plate screws seemed plenty tight already. I was REAL wary of it's plastic tank, and decided to wait.

I took it apart and found a bit of goop and grit down in it's internal corners, so all that's cleaned up now

Got some gaskets on order from Matt, and we'll try it again.

And yeah Ron, the ole Lazy Bee was already slated for a couple new "Board of Engine" projects, so Jr will be added to the roster.

Later Dudes !!!
