Cox Engine of The Month
Texaco and Exhaust Throttle Sleeve

Texaco and Exhaust Throttle Sleeve
Can you use a throttle sleeve on a Cox Texaco? I am using the Texaco on an Ace Whizard and was wondering about adding throttle. Do I really even need it?
Sorry, one other question- If you use a throttle sleeve and fly at mixed throttle, does an exhaust throttle save fuel and give you a longer flight time?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Re: Texaco and Exhaust Throttle Sleeve
Welcome to CEF Scott. The throttle sleeve works on almost all COX cylinders maybe except the old thin wall ones, and as such will fit the Texaco too,
You may need it if you fly RC and want to idle between 2 stunts or while diving, I think this will allow an idle low enough for taxiing on the ground.
Because the exhaust throttle reduces rpm by throttling the engine exhaust rather than throttling the carb thus msking the fuel rich, it will save you fuel-and cut performance too,

Re: Texaco and Exhaust Throttle Sleeve
Thank you for the reply. I wasn't sure with the Texaco because of the lower RPM. I will be ordering 2 throttle sleeves so we you have 3 channel control. When I was a kid we always flew 2 channel with Black Widows and no throttle, now I can't imagine not having a throttle!
