The .15 Medallion conrod usually has the traditional "ball-joint" connection to the piston but we have come across at least one that was a "pin" version, like the .15 TD Special. Was the latter version only supplied for certain build years?

Cox TD .15 Special has been manufactured between 1961-65. So I think that pin style pistons assembled to Medallions between these years. (Production date from MH Aerotools web site)

To be honest I have never followed the Medallion line, I do know they came with either. Early had ball sockets, later were pinned. I don’t know how long Medallion .15’s were made. I would be willing to bet that the piston pin was used until end production.

I think the later versions had the issue with the piston catching the port edge during running. It happened to me on one engine. That piston and cylinder were ruined. I believe a few other members had that happen as well.

Jason, I experienced this twice. I still have 2 in the case which I will probably never run. Sadly, the cases have been beat up a bit. I also know some others in which that happened. When it stops, it's quite aggressive.
