I want to build a scaled down McCoy style teardrop tether car. Is there a place that supplies tether car parts? Such as wheels, drive parts, axles etc.

I may even use a TD .020 to power it.

This is the car in question, just much smaller and a body made of wood.

Hi Ron
Toy parts Peddler, Hancock, Minnesota 320 392 5375, used to sell replacement parts for Cox, Ohlsson and Rice and Dooling tether cars but I think they may have stopped trading. Their website no longer exists but there is a facebook page that was active to June 2015.

Gary Arnold at TLC Enterprise, Whitmore Lake, Michigan, 734 449 2154 has a good range of cars and parts. I got the wheels for my tether car from them.
Their website is still active.

Ron, I haven’t found a store, or a source for “kits” for the teather cars. There are a few groups that buy, sell, trade these cars, but like the CEF, they are groups of die hard, or I should say dedicated modelers who use “enginunity” to produce these little works of art.
Following the links provided in the previous post, the web sites and i ended up here:

You’ll probably end up buying what you need from one of those dedicated modelers, like Gary Arnold.

Thanks everyone.

I looked at both sources and I am still reeling over the prices. No wonder these things are so expensive. Also it’s no wonder that the participation is so small.

I may have to build my own out of pieces from the Hardware store. I may also be able to re-utilize some veco or perfect aluminum wheel for this project. The hardest part for me will be a flywheel and drive parts. I am pretty sure I can cobble something together.

This is where a small lathe would come in handy.
