RE: A collectors dream
WOW,
An RR-1 for $5.98 plus 3% tax in 1960.
For me that would mean 6 lawns mowed plus come up with another dime, nickel, and penny !
Or a little more than 12 hours working at Dad's gas pumping gas, checking oil, washing windshields, and airing tires for customers!
It sounds cheap today but it was quite an investment for a poor teenager of the day.
Don't worry...my grandkids look at me the same way when I tell them the true realty of the time as most will do here now.

That picture is from a 1960 dealer catalog I recently got off of eBay. I need to scan it in. More woodshed material for Bob.

Wonder how many of those planes back from 1960 are still in a flyable condition? There must be a few still alive..

Re: A Collector's Dream
Thanks for posting that photo Mud.
I (and I'm sure many others) would love to see any other photos from those times.

Re: A Collector's Dream
Spitfire was probably best looking Cox RTF c/l plane produced. A kid up the street had one, but I never got to fly it. It looks like it would fly pretty good for an all plastic plane. Any pilot reports on it?

It seems they could assemble the model faster than assembling the boxes and packing the airplanes.
I have several pics of models stacked up and awaiting packaging.
Please post your photos. Thank you.

That would be $51.25 plus 7 to 10% sales tax in 2019 and if DSS caught you mowing a yard or working at dad's service station they would have your parents in court for child abuse/neglect.
