I thought it might be amusing to post pictures of what we consider the worst looking model engines.

Here's my contribution, 1948 Fox 59 Hi-Speed Ignition, Lordy, is that ugly or what?

Not sure but, as the saying goes "form follows function"

I used to have one of those, (ED penny slot) back when people would give them to you to get rid of them, ran like cr*p, just about chugged over, and screwing the whole cylinder head up and down to alter compression was downright weird, and I never understood why anyone would make a 2cc, although I suppose 2.5 & 3.5 were strange capacities anyway when you think about it!

You think that's odd!
Who would make a 0.16 cc Smile oh wait cox did.
There are some seriously odd displacements I believe John Valentine made a 0.118 cc and valentine make 0.098cc engines and loads of other wierd to us sizes.

HEY! (Show a little respect for where progress began) Smile

Those engine aren't UGLY so much as they are "evolutionary" steps to modern engines.

Would you call the 1903 Wright Brothers powered aircraft "ugly"?

Is that the fuel tank with that atrophied black line. I think it needs a bypass. or at least a couple of stints.

Ugly perhaps, but check out the cool "Fighter Canopy" they gave the pilot !!! If he just stared straight ahead. he MIGHT be able to imagine himself in a "Tempest" or some such...
