Shrikes!!................
Shrikes!!................
arrived.
Not bad, yellow one more beat than the green. Contaminated, will need a good cleaning.
Green one has a propeller within the propeller, stamped out aluminum thing that I haven't seen before. Came with an extra canopy and instructions and a trophy. A winner already.
Heavier than I thought they would be.

Thanks Ken, Wonder why the yellow one doesn't have it. Basically the same setup prop etc.
Maybe a PO removed it. Both of these came from the same seller. Thought a couple of sons racing in the driveway.

Looking good Bob. Really a great design and color combinations from Cox back then. I remember wishing I had several of them back then when enjoying their product catalogs.
Because of all the different colors available with the Shrikes, don't get bit by the color scam. It is hard to resist.
Oh yes, love the trophy!

Re: Shrikes!!................
Ah Doc, all I need is red and black ones to catch up.
These Shrikes do have a visual appeal that most other tether cars do not. Enjoyed Kens video of one doing circles in Philly.
Also Dave's proposed modified Shrike. Looks like a winner and I'm eager to see the final product.
Cox calls that a "Starter catch."

Here's one for the Shrike collector who has to have every model, the red R/C Shrike.
I thought I had them all, Red, Green, Yellow (with and without roll cage) and black R/C but there is a red R/C Shrike.
Currently on eBay with a buy now of US$1000.00, about 1500.00 New Zealand dollars.
I don't want one that much.

Don’t loose any sleep over it. It is a “one off” which I assume means they are one off the coo coo tree. Has NOT been tested. Guaranteed not to work due to overcustomation. As Is, Where Is, can’t be responsible for any shipping damages , BUT worth ever penny because it is one off a kind, so rare you’ll never see another, ever, anywhere!
My copy and paste function is malfunctioning, here is a screen shot of his fine print:

Ah that'll teach me for not reading the fine print. Once I saw the price I didn't bother going any further.

Re: Shrikes!!................
He lost me at $1000.
But I would have liked to have seen a picture of the radio installation. Short antenna hanging out back but what is it controlling! No connection to the engine and the front wheels looked fixed. Strange.
But it's killing me that I can't get to those two Shrikes to clean them up. Too many projects to finish first.

I'm with you on that one Bob, cupboard full of projects but just can't seem to get to them.
Always seems to be something else ahead of them

I stuck them out in the garage where I can't see them Dave. But today I looked for a shovel to turn over some flower beds and noticed them.
Hmm, shovel or Shrikes. Shovel won this time, but I formulated a plan. The yellow one is nasty but the engine turns over. Thinking I will just for grins try to run it as is without a cleaning. Can't remember ever doing that before.

Re: Shrikes!!................
Bob, here's the latest Shrike we had going at the field. My buddy Dan and Larry got it going for the owner. Neat stuff, the tether car stuff is fun. Makes me wish I never got rid of the Gurney Eagle I owned. https://www.facebook.com/PhillyFliersCL/videos/vb.513140418756097/821209738213592/?type=2&theater

Thanks for that video Ken. Faster that I thought it would ever be.
With two of these I have options. Thought about two adjoining but separate circles starting each aligned and turning them loose. Winner gets the little trophy for a week.
Or.............two overlapping circles starting each 180 out....insert Fred's evil grin here.
As for starting without cleaning. There usually is left over fuel goo in the tank. Wondering................

Hey, good use of a stunt tank.
What a load of baloney. The only thing "One Off" is the fact someone has assembled it themselves from bits & pieces, so where's the collectable value in that? Maybe he mistakenly put an extra zero on the end of the price.
