Saw this and thought this may be past its prime:

One must admit, the owner was creative with repairs:

If anyone could bring it back to its former glory, then probably it would be rsv1cox.

I would name it Frankenstein, you know the bolt through the neck thing.

What was he thinking...The pod could have been repaired quite easily.

But one side of me says.....Put it on the shelf as is. Sort of Steam punk or folk art. But that goes against my nature, and most of us here.

I'm still conflicted about this one:

Hang it from the ceiling with those deflated tires pointing down or restore it. I'm still debating myself on that one.

I'd give it a good clean-up and fit some used wheels that were in better shape. It is a good looking plane and looks like it has flown too.

Ah, found it Doc, I didn't realize that it was on ebay, thought something you found local.

$75.00 + $19.05 shipping, think I will pass although I don't have a Prop Rod. There is a better one listed at $99.00 + $10.00 shipping.

And Eric, try Krylon instead of the rust stuff. Gives a much better finish IMO. Just make sure it's the newer Krylon paint with plastic in small print on the label. Can't guarantee that it's fuel proof though.

Yeah, it's a tough call on what to do to the old plane. I understand leaving it as is to keep the history of it, while at the same time fixing it up. I am thinking that the least that will be done is a good cleaning of the outside, and tail assembly glued back on. From there, you may have a better idea of what you would like to do to it, whether you decide to hang it back up with deflated wheels, or continue on fixing it back up.
