Testors P-40 + engine - coming along
I cut out the tail sections from 1/16" balsa and applied a first coat of Minwax sanding sealer. A couple more applications to go before paint and assembly. I'm waiting for some 1/32" drill bits to arrive so I can drill a hole in the bamboo elevator control rod for an internal control horn as was the original. Saves making a hole in the fuselage.
Anyone ever mount one of these P/B engines on a stand for a test run? If so, how did you do it?

Bob - Kim did one here, with a metal strap and screw with washer:
https://www.coxengineforum.com/t616-the-goofy-thing-actually-runs?highlight=Testors
I know Mark has done one also, I will keep looking.
Found It linked to a stunthanger picture on google:
https://www.coxengineforum.com/t8062-fun-with-generic-non-threatening-title
Here’s another done by Mark:

The one I can’t find is the one using a red Cox TD mounting tank, using a short length of Goldberg golden rod with two threaded ends going down thru the mounting legs of the tank to retain the Testors engine in place.

Re: Testors P-40 + engine - coming along
Thanks Rene, I should have thought about the search function myself.
Kim's post was well before my time (2011), but I do remember the second one and Mark's and roddies mounting solutions. I may try that PVC thing.
Not much love for these engines, but the Testors engines I have experience with ran quite well.
This one shows no evidence of ever been ran. I just want to run it before I mount it so I'm reasonably sure it's a go when I get around to flying it. A tank that limits flight to a minute or less is a plus for me.
