I took the twin out today, the Medallions have replaced the horseshoe product engines. https://www.facebook.com/PhillyFliersCL/photos/a.605410626195742/3771242599612513/?type=3&theater The Medallions worked terrifically. Great power flying on 50' Spectra lines. Speed was a bit over the top but fun nonetheless. I had the inboard engine glowplug loosen. That caused a few issues and I think it's due to the piston cylinder being new and a bit over compressed. I started out on 10% nitro and settled with 35%nitro. This is a amazing flying plane and the overhead maneuvers from the outside of the circle look just too cool. The weather was cold, drizzly again, windy.

I figured I'd break out some fast stuff and pulled out the Demon. The Demon needed it's piston exercised so my son Shawn was put up. Shawn isn't afraid of it and let it know who's boss. The MK 4 was on a good run, not bad for a engine in need of bearings. https://www.facebook.com/PhillyFliersCL/videos/254895415647841/

Love that twin Mustang Ken, and black makes it look even more evil. Wish I was there to hear those two Medallions in sync.

Great video of your son putting that Demon through it's paces.

The Mustang looks better with the Medallions on it and that Demon was moving on! Nice Glide to a landing too .

Nice videos and pictures . Thanks for posting . I built about a half dozen Demons back in the 70's , they went together fast . My favorite was the Sneeker and Nemesis . Flight Streaks fit the bill for slow combat . I went from Fox engines to Super Tigres . Still have engines but gave the left over planes away .

I made it back to the field yesterday. For the past few weeks, everytime I have managed to get there, the weather was not so good. Yesterday was no different, while the temp was up slightly the winds were over the top.  Gusts up to 25 and a steady 15mph and more.  I'm used to flying in high winds but the few that showed up were quick to put their planes back in the car. Today , I tried the Mustang tanks on uniflow. Unfortunately, I still have some work to do on this plane. I firmly believe the uniflow pipe is offering too much air pressure and needs to be necked down. In addition, when running  uniflow tanks they  generally richen up  through the flight but mine are really going rich. I think my outboard glow plug is also possibly being problematic. I pulled out new plugs yesterday but they never made it into my flight box. As much as I wanted to try the plane again, it was getting later in the day and I wanted to try some other planes.

Great flight Ken. Turned the sound up. Sounds like two angry Bee's in flight. Brought back memories.

Flew great too on one chugging engine leading to a beautiful landing.

Eric, keep in mind these are single ported Bee cylinders. While I've tried higher nitro, I settled on 20%. Enough to keep the fire lit and a little bit more run time. I actually took two tanks I had and trimmed them down . I don't recall how much capacity they hold.  I wish I hadn't of done that. Wedge tanks like I'm using have been problematic when using uniflow. I made the tanks uniflow as they're not available in that configuration. I believe what happens is that inside, the compartment is so tight that I'm getting turbulence.  The uniflow air stream is not being directed properly rather it's being splayed out.  I was thinking of actually using the Sullivan 1 oz. plastic tanks.

The mounts are somewhat interesting. I purchased them on Ebay about 2-3 years ago. If anyone has any knowledge of them, I would like to know if they're still available. These are a lightweight aluminum casting. They were less than $4 a piece and they're actually quite strong. The only thing I really needed to do to them was to file across the tops of the beam and make them flat and sand down the mounting surface flat. Definitely someone just making them at home but they work terrific and are inexpensive. Dave Brown mounts have not lived up to their expectations for me as they also vibrate and break on the rear mount hole. I will try and get a close up picture of them. The seller made them to fit TD's. The holes needed to be drilled and tapped but that's easy enough. If one desires using a Norvel you would have to open the mount spacing up using a file.

They real deal recently airborne, looks like he is hauling pretty good. A couple of the banking turns look fairly steep to me also!
