3D printed Pee Wee 0.020 tank extension?

3D printed Pee Wee 0.020 tank extension?
I've been wanting longer run time on the Pee Wee.
Was wondering if anyone has experimented with 3D printing a tank extension. Imagine I make a cylindrical section that goes between the current tank and back plate and the top and bottom of the cylinder has the right features to fit into the tank and back plate.
What material should I try? ABS? PLA? Something else?
Are the tank screws 2/56?
I looked for long (> 1.5" to 2") 2/56 screws but didn't find any.
Looking forward to your thoughts,
Harjit

Hi Harjit, welcome to the forum.
As for the 2-56 fillister head screws, McMaster Carr has them.
They also have hex socket head screws that work well.
Good luck with the extensions. Keep us posted.

You are going to have to use Zytel or nylon as the nitro will soften up ABS and PLA.
I tried an extended 3D printed tank backplate on the .020 and had air leak issues just as the kavan extensions were plagued with.

Be better off with the 3D printed horseshoe backplate for the .020 and use an external tank.

What a great community.
@dckrsn - I will check McMaster Carr - thank you!
@Jason_WI - thank you for the info. Wonderful write up. Can you share the original drawing file you created? I would like to copy the interface features. I was thinking of an extension that sandwiches between the current back plate and the tank. Since you had a good seal, it might work.
I will have to go find a place where I can print in this material. Any chance you are interested in trying the sandwich approach?
Since external tanks work, that tells me the Pee Wee is able to create enough suction.

I did some bench testing with 2 converted Pee Wee engines.
