Happy Cox Lazy Bee Engine Needle Valve

Post  FSTP Mon Jan 25, 2021 5:07 am

Hi,

I recently got a NOS ARF Cox Lazy Bee. It was/is pretty much in perfect condition except for one thing I noticed while putting it together today. The needle valve is bent. I don't really want to try and bend it back straight as I'm concerned that it may fatigue the metal and then one day break off inside the engine.

What model engine came with the Lazy bee? Also where can I purchase a new needle? hopefully they're not to pricey.

Thank you,

Okay, I'll try getting that longer one, it looks like its probably the same length as mine.

Thank you!

So I purchased the Needle recommended to me. It just arrived. It seems it is slightly different then the one the Lazy Bee engine came with. I've included a photograph for comparison. Its the same length but the treads appear to be slightly different. Can I still use this one or should I look for a different one? I can't try running the engine with this new valve needle yet as I have yet to purchase any fuel. So once I do that maybe I'll try this new valve needle. Any advice would be great!

Looks identical to me apart from a few more threads on the new one. If it screws in then it will work.

Yep, I do agree that it is different. The new one is straight! Smile I do agree with Cribbs. Should work just fine as the pitch does look the same, only slightly more threads. Just line it up and try screwing it in carefully and see if it fits. Shouldn't be a problem from what I see.

Yeah I know they are pretty much identical I was just worried the longer thread length would some how cause issues.

I tried it and it fits so I guess its good to go now. Thanks for the help everyone!
