Bee’s in my Balsa!

Bee’s in my Balsa!
Irony strikes again. I purchased a lot of building supplies and a few kits last fall. This last Sunday my son comes in the house and says “There are bees flying out of those boxes in the garage” Yup, they sure are after taking a quick look. Tonight I started to unstack the boxes and got hammered by a couple of mad bees .
Owch! Under my left arm: that welt is bigger than half dollar !
Bottom of Second box: dead babies :
.
Top of third box, ate all my tissue and plan
After a full can of Wasp/hornet killer, they are still buzzing around the “entry” box. So,I am gonna wait to open the boxes up to inspect.
The irony? The club the gentleman I bought the kits from belonged to was the “Balsa Bee’s”.

Ouch! That so sucks!
Oh, and the arm...ouch! That sucks too!
What is the damage? Lose much wood? Plans? Or did they just occupy the boxes?

Re: Bee’s in my Balsa!
Probably more of a paper wasp problem or a bee that uses paper, but I am not aware of any. Looks like they weren’t nesting, but stealing paper to make their home.
Either way, wrapping the kits tight in a tarp will stop the problem. Lucky that you were only stung once!

Re: Bee’s in my Balsa!
Hi Rene, I have a LOT of balsa-wood. Wood that didn't cost me anything. If you discover that some of your balsa-wood has been destroyed.. advise me of the damage. I may be able assist with replacement wood.
Re: Bee’s in my Balsa!
Whew! I think I got'em all. There were a few stragglers still looking for "home" yesterday afternoon. Yeah they had started a nice little condominuim in the bottom boxes and must have utilized the tissue paper as a free construction supply. I have not gone thru each box piece by piece, but it looks like they attached their paper to the balsa sheets rather than eating the wood. I want to say most of what was in there was the Left-overs from the kit build. I'll find out if the remaining balsa sheet is even useable after being soaked in wasp killer ( smells like wd-40) similar to being soaked castor/used fuel in a good used model? The important pieces like the stab and elevator were in a box that didn't get invaded, or sprayed.
Roddie- Thank you for your generous offer for free replacement balsa. With my current building output VS kits on hand to build I think my existing indoor dry insect free balsa is more than adequate...Jason says you never have enough Engines..Roddie says you never have enough balsa! Thanks again for the offer, it is appreciated.
I need to finish the project those bees got me started on and cleanout and re-organize the garage for more efficient storage. Those boxes were taking up floor space that should be used for bicycle parking.....BUT:
Mother Nature has other plans for my time....Bob can I borrow your JD tractor? I have 2 extension cords that will allow me to get up close with a electric chainsaw:

Oh my! Close call. What a beautiful Corvette.
If I lived next door, that tree would be firewood in no time. I think you have mentioned that Corvette before?
