Hi everyone. My name's Mehdi. I'm a 36yo french man who recently started to discover the cox engines world.
I bought some old 0.8 motors to restore, and now I have one finished and running.

Could you help me choose a model for a 0.8 engine ? Cox_re10

I would like to install it on a plane, possibly on something that won't be crazy fast. But I'm affraid tiny wingspan like this can only be fast ? Or can I achieve some " cruising " with moderate RPM ?

Hello and Welcome Mehdi,

The photo of the engine you have is of a Cox .049 engine.
If you are looking for a nice trainer type of plane to mount your Cox engine in, you could try a Tomboy airplane.
The airplane is easy to build and flies well as a trainer.
It is simple to build and cover and a gentle flier.
I have this plane in 6 different sizes. (36 inches, 44 inches, 48 inches, 54 inches, 60 inches, and 72 inches)

The Tomboy is exactly what I'm looking for, and I notice your smaller one has a 36 inches wingspan.

Have you seen smaller ones ? I guess the small models I showed are totally not suitable for a .049 engine then.

Mehdi,
The little planes you had photo of are more for small Cox engines like the .020 Pee Wee or better yet is the Cox .010 engine.
But what I have found out is the smaller the planes are, the tricker they are to fly because of the real small size.

The Cox Pee Wee engine is good for planes from 30 to 36 inch wing spans.

As for a Tomboy smaller than 36", no I have not seen one built that small.

Though you could reduce the plans to any small size you would want?

I know understood that a 20in model will definitely be super fast, and "touchy" to control with a Babe Bee installed on it.

I will focus on building a Tomboy, probably not a 36 inches one, but something around 30 inches Smile
