Anyone in the path of hurricane Irene?
Anyone in the path of hurricane Irene? Fortunately, I'm no where near the storm so I won't be affected. I do have some family that live in North Carolina, they are about 90 miles away from the shore but they are getting strong wind and rain... If anyone is in those areas, stay safe....
Re: Anyone in the path of hurricane Irene?
Just a steady sea breeze 120 miles inland. A rain band almost got to Columbia but not quite. We could have used the rain. I do have family in Wilmington and along the SC coast. They're hurricane hardened, they'll be okay. My cousin is a tug boat captain. They take the boats out into the Intracoastal waterway and ride the storms out. It's the best way to keep them from getting battered in the harbor. I would love to go along for one of those rides sometimes. I've been through a lot of hurricanes, strangely, one was in Long Island when Gloria hit back in the '80s.

A few years back there was a tornado that was within 50 metres of my house it destroyed a local church but not many people were hurt.
