Re: Cox Flyer from 1988
I have a 1988 catalog too,
The part that intrigues me is the queen bee, it appears to be a prototype, with the muffler being indexed via the crankcase and the carburetor and intake manifold being different as well

Re: Cox Flyer from 1988
I received mine a few years ago for my birthday
Got it running a year ago and in my opinion, the people that talk trash about it are only partially right
Yeah it’s seriously heavy, but it starts so easy (two drops of fuel down the carb then cover both holes and draw some fuel in while bringing in the prime), two or 3 flips and it’s going. I’ve done some carb mods to mine and changed the head, so idk if that makes a difference from stock, but it idles so so nicely. I once ran it for 15 mins straight at idle just to see if it could,
It absolutely did. And the sound... it’s great.
It might only get to 16500 rpm, but it runs great for being a cox reedie
I’ll have to take a video of it running sometime, I haven’t ran it in a while...
It’s going on a lil swamp buggy... once I finish it

If you want to fly your likely better off with a os 10fp or if you want a more current type a norvel
Never ran mine either.
For sure, that’s why mine is going on an airboat. But it runs so much nicer than any other cox reedie from my experience
