esc ifor the bec only

Hi all just curious as if i can use an old esc in my cox powered airplane because of the weight of 4 AA"s (4 the rx) is double the weight of a 2s lipo. should just order a $12 bec to reduce rx voltage but why spend money there, im sure it will be better spent elsewhere. So has anyone done this? Is anyone doing this? Any possible problems plugging esc to aux port on rx?...thanks to all just dont want to destroy my equipment or plane, if my stuff gets destroyed it better be by pilot error, thanks again

Well Hey! WELCOME TO THE CEF!!
We're mostly Nitro Burnin', castor slinging BUT there are a few here who know how NOT to let the magic smoke out of the electric components.
I'm lucky if I get + and - correct in my flashlight batteries. My limited knowledge of ESC and BEC shouldn't lend any truth to the fact that I THINK the ESC is a speed controller and should be connected to the throttle port of the Rx.
Lets see if anyone jumps in,before you go all Johnny Knoxville on them electrons.

It work it is possible to connect in the same port as the gas if wanted use one y onector even two esc in the same port but one must have the positive wire in the center disconnect i sugest use 8v servo like the feather light futaba servo Take example on this boat with hibride system uses an esc with a servo motor in a simple two channel receiver the gas works with the esc the nitro motor is predominant in this system the two electric motor is a back to shore system that is fast and fun

There are Electric Speed Controllers (ESC) that have Battery Elimination Circuitry (BEC) in them.
If you have a compatible ESC with BEC that runs on a 2 cell lipo poly pack, you can plug that ESC into the motor plug (#3) into the radio receiver.

If it has been programed correctly (the ESC with BEC) will run the receiver as well as the motor.
Until the voltage drops to the cutoff lever on the Esc (with Bec) and stop the motor from drawing any more power fro the 2 cell lipo pack.
But there is enough voltage in the 2-cell pack to keep the receive running to operate the servos for a limited amout of flying time for you to land.

thanks, just dont see the need to spend $$$ if I dont have too, hopefully I wont be wishing later i wasnt so cheap, thanks again
