In my quest for MORE power for the Old Timer I've now put a new td top end on it.
I'm going to take a little more time running this one in (at least 4 tanks Ha) but
the NV appears to be seeking a career of it's own so even if I wanted to lean it down
the blinking thing keeps rotating anti clockwise.
!, I'm counting my blessings it ain't going the other way.
2. What's the best way to make it stay put?

Balance the prop!

Just kidding, either the spring is worn or the NV itself. That would be my guess

I always remove the spring and replace it with a washer and a short piece of silicon fuel tube, It keeps the needle from moving and it seals the inevitable air leak around the threads.

I use a thicker tube now. It lasts longer and seals better. Here it is in the background

I wouldn't even run an engine with the spring. This is the only way to go. It will run much better without air trickling past the threads

yeah get rid of the spring for the needle valve, and replace it with a #4 washer and medium size fuel line as rknrusty suggested

I'll balance prop just in case (engine's had less than 10 tanks so not old) and I'll Rustyise the needle
then report back.

i have done the needle valve+medium fuel line with good results, good luck

I have read that you should always run-in the engine with the prop and fuel you intend to primarily use in the field. I've found my engines don't like changing fuel.
