Operating Instructions for Enya engines

Wait, what? What company bought Enya?
I picked up a .18, but it sounds funny running. I briefly thought to hand it off for repair...sigh.

Enya's parent company (who purchased Enya around 2007) is Shioya Manufacturing Company Ltd.

SS, thanks much. I visited and found an email address. Now to find out if they offer a rebuild service. This engine is no longer listed on their site so I have only slim hopes. By the chart above, this engine is anemic at best. It only developed 50% of the rated speed using the appropriate prop. Sigh.

This one broke me of buying.any more used engines...my last four have been duds (2x Torp .19,.Fox .35, and this Enya .19). I'm half-afraid to check the previous couple of engines.

Jim, your's is the first I have heard of an Enya .18, they exist?

Yes, a little more cautious and wiser, I've been careful about buying used engines. However, my last score with a K&B .45 Sporster new with muffler and additional bulkhead mount back but without box made up for some of the other bad purchases.

Sometimes wanting a particular engine, there is not much choice, but, a bad purchase would tend to sour a purchaser.

I too was scratching my head as he said that he had an Enya .18?
I think it was just a slip of the finger on the keyboard and he meant to hit the "9" key?

Which Enya .19 is it?
An Enya .19-III or IV, or V, or VI?
Or a 19X engine?
Maybe you just need a new piston/sleeve if the compression is low?

You can email Ken Enya ( sales@enya-engine.com ) for parts (like I do) and see "if" he has a piston/sleeve for your Enya .19?
If he does, then don't forget to order new gaskets as well.
With the new piston/sleeve, it should be like a new engine.


The Enya is very easy to tear down. Just use a little heat on the engine and this will loosen up the screws and other parts that are tight.

I have rebuilt hundreds of Enya engines and the 4-strokes are the most tedious because of the many parts (big and small).
Your .19 have very few parts. Just mark the parts so that you can reassemble the engine back to the way it was.

I looked up the MECOA site for an Enya .19 piston/sleeve and they have "in stock" some piston/sleeve parts for an Enya .19-IV.
Hopefully yours is a .19-IV (good luck?)
