Little known turbojet fighter of the '40's/50's has always fascinated me. Stimulated again this morning by this artists rendition. Best I have seen of the type. Love the color scheme. Thunderjet straight wing, Thunderstreak swept wing.

Hard to find in balsa, but this version is on ebay. Looks to be a very collectible kit but @$75.00 above my comfort zone.

Outerzone has plans by Walt Musciano but cutting out all those pieces would drive me nutz, so for now I'm content just to look.

Wiki has a nice write up, and occasionally the full scale turns up in Air Classics.

I've been watching those earlier all balsa reproductions by Paul Bradley and his brother, they did a really nice job producing plans and color markings that could be printed onto 1/32nd inch thick balsa on a flat bed inkject printer.

They could be scaled up and made into larger FF, CL, RC models, even manufactured out of 3/16th inch thick poster foamboard using K-Flex wings.

That is a neat web site I’ve looked at before too… Another alternative on some of their plans instead of printing directly on balsa is to print on iron on transfer sheets meant for T-shirts….Then use an iron to transfer to the balsa…. I bought a package of it at the local Walmart but have not tried it yet…. I had the Midwest Bird dog they have on their site as a kid…. Might like to do it again as a small RC….

Good video Levent.

John Glenn flew the F-86 in combat over Korea. So did Ted Williams a famous American baseball player for the Boston Red Sox. I saw him hit a home run once at Fenway park.

I have plans for a F-84 Thunderjet for a .35-.40 engine. I always wanted to build it, I like the trike gear. The big problem is that it's a early design based off of Midwest warbird series wings. The Midwest warbird series were the largest wingspan kits produced in 1970. The airfoils are terrible as the wings are too thin. My F-84 plans share this problem and this has kept me from building it. I always contemplated using FLite Streak ribs due to constant chord and building it with those.

Ken, I noticed that the designer of those MIdwest kits had plans published in a model mag labeled as either P-39 or P-63 same wingspan as kit, that did not use flapped wings and had a thicker rib section.
