I'll cross my fingers for you!
Always thought watching a model "jet" engine was cool.
1st one I saw was at the Toledo show back in the 1990's where they had a special area "outside" for a selected people to watch.
They started the engine first with compressed air from a scuba tank to get the blades rotating fast enough so that they could then inject the fuel into the engine.
It reminded me of the old Batman show on TV when the jumped into the Batmobile, clicking the toggle switches and Robin saying turbine up to speed, ready to burn and the camera switches to the rear of the Batmobile to see the engine fire up and a flame shoot out.
And on their test stand, the Jet engine (I think it was an early model of a TurboCat?) was whistling away while everyone watched.
Shutting down was also interesting as you heard a large POP and a small flame come out the back.
Scared me and everyone around me.
The spectators were about 30 feet away or more?
I was in my 30's and thought that is the coolest thing ever!
The other thing I remember was the price tag that was around $8,000 for the Jet engine back then. (WOW!)
