The 2023 Annual World-Wide Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon October 7th & 8th.

We got one more weekend to dust off the old and new Ringmasters, and get them ready for the Fly-a-Thon.

The Breezy Hill Flyers will be putting up flights on both days, and I may drag the camper up there to save one of the 2 hour round-trips. I figure on hoofing it back home Sunday night, for some 1/2A time in the front yard, letting me to log flights in Illinois and Missouri.

I look to have my usual "Ole Blue" the Super Ringmaster, "Flash Back" the Ringmaster Flash, and the 3 1/2A Ringmasters. Ole Blue's got some recent flying time, and Flash Back" had some bench time a couple weeks ago so, all the "castor dissolving" will be aimed at the little guys.

We're 'bout to do it again!

October is gonna be an active month, and I probably ought to buy some "Super Beets" or so such to have the energy not to let the fun slip by.

The "Fall S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In" near Little Rock is cranking up on Thursday, the 12th to Sunday the 15th.

Then, we got "the Breezy Hill Fall Festival Fly-In" the next weekend of the 21st & 22nd.

Sooo...stuff is going on...

Yes, this is "The Stuff of Dreams" for us model airplane nerds of the 1960's.

I STILL remember the thrill of being given the handle to my Uncle Wayne's "Super Ringmaster", which he built around 1967. It was this plane or, possibly, his Goldberg "Shoestring" that was my first flight with a "big plane", and they seemed gigantic.

Nice to have those memories family connections along the model airplane trail….I had to break quite a few 1/2A slab designs before getting brave enough to try the full size Ringmaster…. I was thinking it would be more difficult…. What a surprise to see and feel that thing smoothly around the circle!!

Same for me! I was locked and loaded for craziness! Wayne had told me to let it roll a bit before pulling it off the ground, and the Ringmaster tracked across the ball diamond, pulling its own rooster tail of dust, then lifted into its circle.

And, compared to the 30-35ft lines I'd previously flown on, the 55ft of cable gave the Ringmaster a lot more sky to play in.

And yes...the smoothness of the heavier .35-powered planes WAS totally different from the twitchy 1/2A's.

Sounds like a lot of us walked the same path!

When I graduated from 1/2A to .15/.35 engines I thought this is going to be scarry. It wasn"t!

Gotta build me one for next year... I've said that 7 times lol!

At least I have a mccoy 35 red head to make some laps with.

If all goes to plan should be able to join the good folks in Panoka this year. If your in Alberta stop on in. Look forward to hearing everyone's flight reports, and lap counts.

Gonna make up a set of these little 4x6 score cards to give Ringmaster Pilots at Breezy Hill. Every year, I worry myself silly about the getting correct numbers on who flew what, and how many times.

I figure this time, each pilot can record his type of Ringmaster and number of flights on the back of these cards. I'll huddle down with them on Monday or Tuesday afterward, get the names and numbers, then return the cards as souvenirs for them to keep...I like that kind of stuff.

I also included the "Official Fly-a-Thon Seal" from John's site...just in case there are those who might like to have it.

I will be flying my two Half-A Beginners Baby Ringmaster ( Sterling kit plans) in Adelaide Australia with the Adelaide Aeromodellers CL Club on the 7th and hopefully on the 8th also. Im the only person who really flys Half-A in the club, so with any luck some of the others will fly bigger Ringmasters Airplane

Another great turn out this year. Here is most yhe fleat from Sunday. All though I didn't have a ringmaster of my own a few nice gents let me fly theirs to clock some flights for the Fly-A-Thon. One was powered by a Saito 40, extremely smooth, fuse was extended 2" and 1 extra wing bay made er a great flyer.

Lots of fun by all, and got a few new folks airborne as well.

thanks for the great video Kim @Kim

really enjoyed watching it

got 3 beginners baby ringmaster flights in myself. first flight not so good. when I went inverted I just got everything I could get wrong, wrong. and that plane wont be flying again. The next two flights with my other beginners baby ringmaster went well. lots of inverted and lazy eights and no crashing. lol!
