Looks like a K&B Infant .020 with it's bottom tank missing. The first US made .020. Neat engine, plugs are very expensive for it and hard to find. You can probably blow the prop faster then the engine can turn it. It's neat nonetheless. It's a free flight engine. Essentially the very early versions were hand built one at a time. Later models were commercially made and came as a .039 and .049. They were pretty good engines.

Thanks Ken, probably so but I couldn't place it. I have just one Infant and can't find it at the moment, but it seems it should have a two hole backplate. This one may have it but the angle of the picture doesn't show it. It's a part of this ebay buy. I really only wanted the box and the closed end early Cox wrench which may have come with the box.

Re: Does anyone recognize this engine?
Looks like its got it from the photo in the box-the mount was a lot cleverer than most people think-it rotated freely on the backplate-but was machined with a very slight concave angle-and not flat-when screwed down on to a firewall, the slight change in angle caused by tightening down the mounting screws caused the mount to lock up, so the engine would not rotate once in position, but allowed the user to position the actual screw hole positions anywhere on the mounting circle they required-eg vertically horizontally or anywhere in between-which was useful in some model layouts.
The two larger versions the Torp Jr 035 and Torpedo 049 used the same locking ring set up, scaled appropriately.
Ken's comments are bang on though-I believe kit instructions used to read: 'use two loops of 1/4" rubber or a K&B infant'................

Bob, looking at the Tatone 3-Tube In-Cowl Series Header/Muffler:
Just judging by the Cox 5x3 3-bladed prop, just shy of the length of one blade, appears to be Part# 11033 for .29 to .40 engines. Appears you may also have the strap for it. Those use standard ANSI screws, easily replaced. However, in general, I have found that the Tatone products are better fitted for in this case, say the .15 to .25 engines.
Somewhere in this forum, I have photos of my Enya .19-VI TV engine fitted with a Tatone .29-.40 Peacepipe Muffler, which chamber wise was properly sized for it. Another, my Enya .09-III TV is fitted with a Tatone .09-.19 Peacepipe, which is right sized. Any larger, the chamber and exhaust outlet is too small, except for maybe a diesel engine.
Someone filed the opening for an engine, so may limit use if exhaust port is narrower than cut-out. Although I suppose one with a little ingenuity could make a cover plate with cutout for an engine with smaller exhaust cutout and a way to affix it so it doesn't shift alignment while engine is running.
I've learned from these auctions, to be extremely careful of those who fail to post sufficient photos of the article. In one case, I bought a Tatone Peacepipe that from photos appeared to be pristene, but was missing the photo showing inlet opening. It was cheap (or should I say, cheep ), its inlet was max'd out, basically useless except as a display item.
Basically, experience is a hard master.

- Or in more direct terms:
- La calidad de las cosas del vendedor era bastante deficiente y él era deshonesto.
The quality of the seller's stuff was very poor and he was dishonest.
Basically, experience is a hard master.

Re: Does anyone recognize this engine?
Looks like the .035 Torp Jr. which only has 5 head fins and the .020 Infant has 6.
Still on the lookout for a Torp Jr glow plug insert, or looking to find someone who can machine up a functional one from an available insert. Perhaps a Merlin type or something similar??

Re: Does anyone recognize this engine?
Thanks for the insight guys. And Chris, I did not know that abought the mount. Clever yes, I will have to check that out. Tatone is a plus. I'm not sure what the blue and whites are, wheel farings perhaps.
It should be here today according to USPS tracking. ebay seller (2000+ items for sale) wanted $49.00 BIN, I offered $35.00 which was accepted.
