Well folks, it's back to action this coming weekend.  Heading to my favourite local airshow at Tyabb once again.
Tyabb Airshow
Haven't been for a couple of years due to covid restrictions etc.  It's always a blast, although it looks to me that they are a few warbirds down in their flying program this year.  Heading in to display vintage engines and cars once again.  Gets me in for free. Clapping  Saves $60!!
I ususlly try to take my display board of old engines.

Normally it attracts a few offers of model engines people have stashed in their cupboards somewhere from their childhood.

Always a good weekend showing off the vintage engines as this crowd always seems to take more interest than any other.  We generally run old pumps etc because the water makes an active visual display.  The open crank farm engines always seem to be the favourite.

Very cool stuff Rod. We have something like that here which is knows as Cabin Fever. All types of engines and equipment. Hand made gasoline engines, flame lickers, Stirling engines, steam, etc. Your display looks very cool. Do you run any of them for the show?

Thanks Ken.  It's nice to have the old engines popping away keeping the crowds entertained.  As for the model engines, we're not actually permitted to run them with a prop attached.  I did rig up my OS FS60 on a test stand once for a vintage display.  Mounted it up with a nice new wooden prop (hoping the sefety officer wouldn't notice) and made sure it was going to run.  First couple of firings gathered a crowd of spectators so the pressure was on.  These engines are supposed to be started with a back flip, and that was working fine the first couple of shots, but then it decided to become cranky and not fire.  I did a stupid thing and tried to flick it forwards and ended up with a huge chunk of flesh missing from the back of my index finger.  "Nothing to see here folks".  Laughing
