I'm restoring an old Reuhl boat. It will be display only but I want to set it up somewhat correctly. I will be using an O&R 60 ignition motor using a coil and condenser.

My question is....what battery set-up would be appropriate? I want to get a vintage battery holder for it, but what size batteries? A couple "D" Cells?

What would be the impact of using smaller or larger size battery.

Thanks for insight!

I run my ignition engines with a Smith Firecracker coil. The battery holder is for two AA batteries. Using a larger say D size probably wouldn't be a issue as the larger battery is just larger with the same voltage. All the battery retainers I've come across have been for AA batteries. Those boats are very elegant.
