While working on my cox 49 an idea hit me... improved easier mounting like on the 0.74 queen bee :!: So i typed cox international asking what their position was on it about 5 minutes ago. will probably get a response tomorrow and i searched Google for a forum site so i could get a second opinion on my idea so what do you think?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have seen some .049 engines that people TIG welded some mounts on the side of a Bee style crankcase. The Tee Dees are really the closest things to that except that its a rotary valve engine. They may consider a Tee Dee style reed engine. Babe Bee .049

their reply was... As we already emailed you a few days previous, we have no plans to manufacture engines. All the engines we have in stock were made at least 10 years ago by Cox. We merely purchased their inventory. Were we to manufacture engines, retail pricing would be at least $50 for the most basic engine as it costs about $25 to make an engine at today’s labour costs.
That aside, Cox did make beam mounted .049 engines and they can generally be found on eBay. The are called Tee Dee and run in the $80 to $100 range.

but were all td engines beam mount? As i have an engine that has td on the origanal prop and it is not beam mount.

I have a few pictures of the Tee Dee engines on my site. http://sites.google.com/site/coxenginecollection/
The TD on the prop stands for Thimble Drome. That was their trademark mostly used back in the 50s and 60s.
All Tee Dee engines beam mount except for the .020 and .010. There are also Medallions, they have the same crankcase as the TDs but have a one piece carb body and were made to be the "cheaper version". They did not have the same power as the TD engines. I also have a picture of a TD .049 on my site.

I am sure that the reason for the medallions poorer performance than the tee dee was because it used a low compression head unlike the tee dee that used a high compression one you can however bring the performance of a medallion up by adding a high compression head or a diesel one.
