John Goddard: thanks for the great video. I have been trying to convince nitrosmeller to build his own wings so i thought i would put together a bunch of pics and some instructions on how to lay out the plan, cover the plan with wax paper, pin down the spar... oops you did it ALL in your video and saved me hours of planning, super glued fingers, wasted film, oops again i have a digital camera now.
anyway you have it all done for everyone to see.
hey nitrosmeller. see this video and learn how to do it the right way. thanks again john.
great job. happydad.

cox 049: have you heard of the astro sport? it was originally designed for an astro 05 electric motor, but it is perfect for a .049 engine. what part of the country are you in? i have one in good shape that had an electric motor in it, but times and interests and flying locations change and it has been gathering dust since i moved here 26 years ago. the wing was made in one piece for strength, (a decision i regret), but it flew very fast and was aerobatic for a rudder/elevator plane. PM me if you are interested in more details. it's late on the west coast and i'm too tired to look for a measuring tape to get more data. i do still have the original plan i think. i know i have the original box.

as far as the at-6 i have a file of a profile AT-6 for control line. i'll look at the ace model asap.

i took a quick pic of my astro sport by astro flight inc, one of the first companies to make electric motors for the RC community. The astro sport came out in early 1980's. please ignore the backgrouns. normally i would take the plane outside in the sun on the driveway and shoot from above. plane has 36inch wingspan about 27inches long, approx. it was made for the astro 05 electric motor and 6 or 7 sub-C cells. the power package weighed about 18 to 20 ounces i would guess. flying weight was typically 32oz. high for todays standards. it is currently layed out for an astro 05 motor and would need a new firewall attached, (1/4inch plywood and 5 minute epoxy and maybe a couple of braces).
the plane is perfect for an .049 gas engine.

Engine049: I had a chance to look quickly at the Ace Simple Series AT-6 and you can't tell too much from the ebay ad how hard/easy the kit is to build. one thing i did notice is that on the box the recommended engine is a Thunder Tiger .07. That might be a more powerful engine than even the Cox TD series. I am not familiar with the TT series. But judging from the numbers .049 versus .07 I would guess that the plane would need a little larger engine than an .049. Maybe a Cox TD .09 would be a better fit if you had one.
My first question to anyone about anything is: what do want to do with it? do you want to fly stunt type flying? aerobatic type flying? contest flying or just have fun? after you answer that question you should ask: how much can i spend? that usually limits a lot of flyers. next question: what type radio system do i have and will it fit? or do i want to buy a newer radio system? and so on and so on. i ask these questions in general because everyone is different and has different wants and needs and even end goals. some guys like to build planes to fly once and put on the shelf. More power to them. to each his or her own. I love to fly. that's all folks.

very happydad.

here is the original plan from colibriguitars. if you read his posts he references a link which shows several pics during the build.
1/2a rc planes - Page 2 0pulga10

p.s. I printed the .jpg file, then enlarged it to fullsize, 35inch wingspan I think, using cut and paste of 8 1/2in. x 11in. pages.

edit - 8:20p.m. PST - p.s.p.s. be sure to look at page 2 of the post. colibriguitars references a link which shows pics. hd

A clean copy can be found in pdf form here, free login required. Free login to the plan gallery is also required.

Search "pulga" and it comes right up. Note it is a metric plan written in Spanish.

Here's a build log with pictures

Post  happydad Mon May 13, 2013 2:12 pm

as mentioned by Phil above the plans I obtained were thru the links shown above in his links for the pulga. all I have is a .jpg file of the Pulga and I printed it and resized/enlarged until the wing was the size mention in the original post by colibriguitar. 35inch wingspan I think.
if you can't find the plan, PM me with your email and I can email you with the .jpg file. you will have to print and enlarge.
